I highly recommend purchasing the Wing Thing, it works great to tighten the wing nuts on your kit and it will save your hands from getting injured setting up drum hardware. I purchased mine at the Original Long Island Drum Center. Shout out and thanks to my former Berklee Professor Rod Morganstein for inventing the Wing Thing.
I do custom cabinets and carpentry. I borrowed this tool from a drummer friend to see how it works on machines with wing nuts. It does the job. The height adjustment on my band saw has always been extremely hard to change without pliers or a vise grip. This tool fits the wing nut on my Rockwell and now adjusting the height for proper cutting is much easier. I highly recommend buying this tool as it works on multiple wing nut applications.
Great piece of equipment that all drum techs should carry in their workbox. Does the job needed to assure there are no mishaps with your cymbal stands during a show. My only gripe is price point for such an a limited tool. Lower the price and full 5 stars.
Some of those wing nuts at the recording studio will no longer be an unbreakable obstacle!
Works awesome so far. My last gig ,had a stubborn floor Tom leg bracket,whipped it out and loosened it right up. Can’t believe I never thought of this! Before always used drumsticks or one of those Allen wrench jackknifes … that works good too, But yea thanx .love it
This is a great wrench! I’ve bought 4 of these. 1 is in my tour work box, 2 are in my fly Pelican tool cases & the 4th I gifted to a great guy that works for a Backline rental company in Dubai!
Last year, I was drum teching for Jared Pope. He is the Drummer for Tom Kiefer Band and Brother Cane. Jared is friends with Rod. He showed me the Wing Thing! Jared let me hold onto the Wing thing over the course of the weekend. I was also teching for Danny Seraphine. I used the Wing Thing during rehearsals and live performance. This tool helped me secure their hardware before a big show! I’m hooked! I recommend adding a Wing Thing to your stick bag!
I can't believe we've been through a century of modern drumming, and no one has thought of this. I no longer have to lock two drumsticks together around a screw head to tighten it. This tool is durable and works great!
